In a major effort to cushion the impact of rising agricultural production costs, local tobacco farmers in the municipality of Sigay officially received critical fuel subsidies through the Optimum Necessity Endowment (ONE) Assistance Program.
The distribution initiative, aimed at reducing mechanical and transport expenses, serves as a direct response to the economic challenges faced by local farmers during the peak of their agricultural cycles. By lowering overhead costs for fuel-dependent farm machinery, the program actively strengthens the efficiency and sustainability of local farming operations.
The field distribution was spearheaded and supported by the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) of Sigay, working in close partnership with the Provincial Agriculture Office of Ilocos Sur.
Local organizers emphasized that the continuous delivery of targeted interventions like the ONE Assistance Program reflects the government’s recognition of tobacco farmers as essential pillars of the rural economy. Through synchronized municipal and provincial efforts, the distribution guarantees that critical resources reach the upland farming communities where they are needed most.
With the newly distributed fuel assistance, the local administration and agricultural officers aim to sustain high-yield production, protect the livelihoods of Sigay’s farming households, and ensure long-term food and economic security for the entire municipality.
